Privacy Policy
OutBar is a small Mac app for sending email from your menu bar. It’s built to know as little about you as possible: it can send email for you, and nothing more. This policy explains exactly what that means.
The short version
- OutBar can send email from your account. It can’t read your inbox, folders or contacts.
- Your emails go straight from your Mac to Gmail or Outlook. They never pass through our servers — we don’t have any.
- The app doesn’t collect analytics. We don’t run ads, or sell or share your data.
Signing in
When you sign in with Google or Microsoft, OutBar asks for the narrowest permissions it needs:
- Send email on your behalf — Gmail’s
gmail.sendor Microsoft Graph’sMail.Send. Neither allows reading your mail. - Your email address — so OutBar can show which account it sends from.
Signing in gives OutBar an access token from Google or Microsoft. It’s stored in your Mac’s Keychain and is used only to send the emails you write. When you sign out, OutBar deletes it from your Mac and, for Google accounts, asks Google to revoke it.
The emails you send
Recipients, subject, message and attachments are sent directly from your Mac to Google or Microsoft when you press Send. OutBar doesn’t keep a copy. Your sent email appears in your account’s Sent folder as usual, under Google’s or Microsoft’s own privacy policy.
Attachments are read from your Mac only when you add them to an email.
Information stored on your Mac
- Recipient suggestions. To autocomplete addresses, OutBar remembers the addresses you’ve sent to, how often and when. This list stays on your Mac. You can remove any address by right-clicking it in the suggestions.
- Preferences, such as Launch at Login and the keyboard shortcut.
- Your sign-in, in the Keychain, as described above.
Deleting OutBar and its data from your Mac removes all of this.
Writing help
Writing help uses Apple Intelligence’s on-device model. Your drafts are processed entirely on your Mac and are never sent to us, to Apple, or to anyone else.
Google user data
OutBar’s use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. OutBar uses Google user data only to send the emails you write, and never to serve ads, train AI models, or for any other purpose. No person at mini tech co. can read your email.
This website
This website uses Vercel Web Analytics to count visits, such as which pages are viewed, which site referred you, and your country, browser and device type. It doesn’t use cookies, doesn’t track you across other websites, and doesn’t store your IP address or other information that identifies you. These anonymous statistics are never linked to the OutBar app or your email account.
The website’s fonts are loaded from Fontshare’s font service, which receives your IP address as part of delivering them.
Children
OutBar isn’t directed at children under 13 and doesn’t knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we’ll update it here and change the effective date above. Significant changes will be noted in the app’s release notes.
